Salty Dog are a trio who deliver an exciting mix of Jazz, Blues and Americana. Each member brings a lifetime of musical experience starting with bassist John Robinson who is equally at home playing upright bass or acoustic bass guitar. John is Jazz through and through, able to sit in with any outfit and frequently does, whist making it all look so easy. Herbie Hudson has an even longer pedigree as a Jazz musician, was the original trombonist in the world famous River City Jazzmen and can be found in Cullercoats Crescent Club with his band, every Monday afternoon playing to a packed house but his first instrument is Chromatic Harmonica on which he is something of a virtuoso. Its worth the admission just to hear Herbie play.
Terry Docherty made his bones on the UK folk scene and is a versatile fingerstyle guitarist able to move easily through different genres. A dynamic yet sympathetic accompanying guitarist who also provides most of the song content of the band.
Together they are Salty Dog.
