The Boating Lake

This lovely Victorian Boating Lake is home to swans, ducks and other wildfowl along with the Tynemouth model boat club.

Enjoy rowing around the lake in a traditional rowing boat or Pedalo before enjoying a break at The Greenhouse Café/Bar/Restaurant.

The kids will love sailing around avoiding the ducks! Or simply have a leisurely walk around the lake before stopping off at The Greenhouse for a bite to eat or a hot or cold drink.

Please call before you visit to confirm our opening hours on the day. There’s nothing worse than dissapointed kids in the back of your car after a long journey!

opening times

Open for public use. Usually the rowing boats only operate in the spring and summer months, weekends and school holidays. Please call in advance of coming as this is an outdoor weather permitting activity and we have also had issues with the pond weed in recent years which has made the lake inoperable. (0191)2587593

Reviews

The afternoon was spent playing dinosaur golf and pirate maze and inflatible slides well worth the money it also has a lovely cafe or you can also get fresh fish and chips either was lovely.

I must say this place was an excellent find. The jungle run slide place was only £3.50 for unlimited playtime for my daughter an she could have run herself ragged in there. The staff are helpful, toilets were clean, reasonable cafe prices, mini golf with dino theme, pond with peddlows, big play park, Excellent place to visit. We will be back!

I visited with my daughter and 3 grandchildren aged, 9,8 and 2. You pay separately for each of the 3 areas, crazy golf, maze and bouncy areas. We went into the maze first which is made from astroturf which I thought was sensible as it would be all weather. You get a map when you enter which you have to stamp in the relevant areas on your journey through the maze, which has a pirate theme. The kids enjoyed it though there are a few dark scaryish areas (nothing too bad). At the end they get some chocolate coins for completing it successfully. I think they’ve made a good start with the maze but think there is room for additional things.

The staff were all very child friendly and the place was immaculately clean, including the toilets. You can get hot and cold drinks in the soft play area as well as at the cafe and they were reasonably priced
